Happy Birthday this past week to Alex and to Laurel. Soon it will be Audrey's birthday, too. Laurel had her birthday party on Saturday and Alex's birthday was yesterday. We hope you both had a wonderful time on separate sides of the United States. It's hard to believe that two people we love so much live so far apart! We wish we could have spent the day with each of you. Hopefully we will see you soon.

SUMMER!

Hola Mia Familia!
I think we have talked to most family this week and weekend. Jenni called about some electrical problems with wiring while Dennis was rewiring the plug in our bedroom. Of course he discovered it was wired wrong in the first place.(not by him) I don't know where Danny was today. He was either running, camping or working on the basement. I heard Finn cry and I wanted to hold him while he will still let me.
Alex was here for a few days. He and Dennis drove the Toyota back east. That went well. Dennis flew home from Cleveland and Alex drove the rest of the way to Ithaca. They missed the tornados the day before and escaped from the crowds trying to leave Chicago after the NBA celebrations. I'm glad it went well. We enjoyed seeing Alex and visiting with him. He was anxious to get back to his work. He chose a hard course of study but seems to love it.
Travis is in Zakopane. I wondered if I spelled that right. He and Marta are hiking in the mountains. It sounds like it's beautiful there. He said they say a beautiful mountain valley with sheep grazing. I'm waiting for pictures. He has been taking a lot of weekend excursions. I think things are slower at work.
Tyler and Dawn are hanging on to this baby. I hope she can hold out for a few more weeks. It is very hard to not be there to help. I think she is at week 33 today. That is a miracle. The whole thing is a miracle and a trial. We pray that it will end well for Dawn and the baby. Laurel told me all about her birthday plans in July. She is excited about it. I hope it works out. I look so forward to meeting this sweet baby.
Tommy and Rilee are adjusting to a newborn. She is always asleep when I visit. But apparently not in the middle of the night. I told them they should do a Utube video of her sleeping. I'm sure it would be popular. She is beautiful. We should all visit at 3:00 in the morning and help out. They have been very blessed with a sweet daughter. But it is life-changing.
Dad and I were in charge of our ward picnic last Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. I'm glad it's over and very glad that it was a success. We hoped for thirty to forty people and had over seventy come. So fun.
I picked Dad up from the airport today. His flight was on time and not crowded. That's what you get when you take the 6:00 a.m. flight. But it was worth it.
The garden is growing. We have raspberries today. And for the whole week. What a celebration!
Missing all of you! Hopefully we will see you soon.

Due to the enormous pressure and challenges some of us are facing as we wait for babies to come, and pray that they don't come too early, what are the funniest, laugh-out-loud movies you've ever seen? I know it varies from person to person. Do you have a movie that always makes you laugh? Maybe even the young ones could suggest a title. I would say "Princess Bride." But there must be others. What are they? Let us know.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAVIS!
June 1, 2016
June 3 is Travis' birthday. The way things are going, I wanted to post that ahead of time.
No babies yet. Tyler and Dawn have had a month of alarms and stress. Dawn and Lilah had strep and coughs. Dawn was in the hospital twice with bleeding. She is taking it very easy until the baby is delivered by caesarean section sometime around the end of July or first of August. We have worried a lot about her health and the baby's health the last few weeks.
Rilee is looking great and feeling great. She and I did some shopping at City Creek on Memorial Day. Somehow City Creek always feels like a party, especially on a holiday. I was introduced to Chik-fil-e lemon slushees. Oh they were good. Also Eva's French Bakery had morning rolls! No baby news yet. I'm betting on this coming Monday.
Dennis is at work in Clearfield today. I'm surprised he didn't take his Honda Pilot. We are enjoying that car.
Danny and Jenni are so close to finishing their basement rooms. They are waiting now for carpet.
Alex is done with tests and graduation activities. He had a fun week with Cornell graduation.

RAINY FRIDAY
Hello family near and far.....
And happy birthday to Oliver Currit who turns 9 YEARS OLD! I hope you have an amazing day. We wish we could spend it with you. I look forward to hearing about it.
Dawn was in the hospital yesterday. She's home now. She has placenta previa which means the placenta will come first, not the baby. She was bleeding and called 911. I'm so glad she did. She's home now. We hope and pray she and the baby can make it for ten more weeks. The baby seems to be fine. She's strong and healthy. But too young to come yet. Dad and I were just going into the Salt Lake Temple when Ty called. We went to our meeting but kept coming out to call. I think this might be a summer of ups and downs. I can't wait to hold this little girl in my arms and pray for her safe arrival.
Travis is in Jelenia Gora in the north by Czech Republic. He is spending a few days in the mountains. We live in the mountains but how often do we take the time to spend a few days in the mountains? Just wondering. I'm glad he was able to get away. It's a slower time at work for everyone except the translator.
Alex passed his ph.d exams and says he never has to take another exam again. But he has to write his dissertation and a lifetime of articles and publications. He is at Cornell Graduation today. Rachel is receiving her ph.d. and her brother is graduating in Political Science. Congratulations! I hope it isn't raining there. I hope it is a wonderful day.
Tommy and Rilee have made it almost to the finish line. I think this baby is going to make it to her due date or longer. I don't look for her to come this weekend. Rilee will be working from home for the next two weeks. They are very excited about the coming events.
Danny and Jenni are almost done with their two downstairs bedrooms. They have accomplished a lot. They have found solutions to a lot of big and little problems and created a new and logical space. I think when the carpet is installed, they will be ready to move in.
Dad and I bought a Honda Pilot. I will miss the big Expedition. It's still a beautiful car. We have had good times in it. At the moment we have way too many cars parked here. We bought a 2011 White Pilot with black leather interior. I hope it serves us well. It's a good looking car. Deciding which car to buy was stupefying. This one felt right and met our basic list. (seat warmers). It's the top luxury model.
I cooked many Swedish pancakes at a camp fundraiser for our inner city ward this week. It was a lot of fun. And they were delicious. I have the recipe if anyone wants it. Now I'm off to garden. Our yard is looking good but it was a big mess. But working in it is good therapy.
Speaking of swallows and gardens, Grandma is on the mend and working hard with lots of rests in between. We hope to see them maybe around the fourth of July if all goes well.
Thanks for all your hard work, your worthy goals, your great accomplishments, and especially for your beautiful children. We love you and pray for you and hope to see you soon.

BACK FROM VEGAS
BACK FROM VEGAS
You probably didn't know that Dennis and I made a quick trip to Las Vegas to get our TSA precheck. The Enrollment Centers are booked out. We found two appointments in Las Vegas, but on consecutive days. The interview was brief (five minutes). The office was in a new large empty terminal, but in a back office with a funky door. It seemed like a good idea to enroll. We had a lot of fun. I was pretty hostile towards Las Vegas, but I warmed up to it. We went to the LDS Las Vegas Temple in the east hills. I loved the desert landscaping and the beautiful Barcelona-style temple. Nope we didn't go to the strip. Honestly I don't know how to do it and I hate casinos and crowds. But I loved the desert and palm trees. As usual the car ride was fun. We came back in time for four days of rain. I love rain! The people we met in Las Vegas were looking forward to the wild flowers that will fill the desert soon. They have had a lot of rain. It was beautiful there.
Rilee had an early delivery scare last week. She's taking it easy for two weeks, then there's probably no stopping the early delivery of baby girl. We will all be relieved it she can wait two weeks.
Tyler has a busy Mother's Day brunch. The girls are doing well in school. They are looking forward to having a new little sister. We are so glad to have girls in our family.
Alex is working hard. We will see him the last week of third week of June. He's coming to Idaho for a wedding. He's looking at the possibility of finishing his degree while living in Austin, Texas. That will be a change! I think he will be in Ithaca this fall and winter.
Travis went on a great bike adventure. I don't know the details. We need to find out. Rilee and Tommy's wedding anniversary is tomorrow. Ty and Dawn and Danny and Jenni have their coming up. Ollie's birthday is the 27th and Travis' birthday is June 3. Baby Girl Currit should be here by then.
We are celebrating Cinco de Mayo tonight! Aura Nielson, a neighbor, is making pupusas and selling them tonight hot off the grill. We ordered the works. I knew she was from Texas, but she must also be from El Salvador. I'm looking forward to this.
Dad will probably be working this next year. We'll see how it goes. So far we enjoy the pace of our lives. We just wish we could see you all more. I'm so glad we went to Seattle in February, and especially glad that we seemed to help and not screw up Danny and Jenni's project. We loved our week in New York. We enjoyed meeting Rachel and hearing about Ithaca and Cornell and experiencing it. We enjoyed going to an antique mall and a salvage store and bowling! It was so fun. We look forward to seeing Ty and Dawn and the girls as soon as possible. I'm so glad we shared Christmas. Honestly, we could move to any of the places we have visited. In September we will go to Poland and Italy. That should be very interesting. I look forward to that.
We spent the afternoon in Las Vegas at the temple. I wish I could describe the inside to you. But you'll have to see it for yourself. All I can say is I have never seen so much rose/terracotta color used decorating. It was stunning. and it made for a very sweet afternoon.
No Canadian relatives are close to the Ft. McMurray fire, however they are very worried and upset about it. My impression of Ft. Mcmurray is that, after Edmonton, that is the big town further north. I really think it is an oil town. Not sure. But it's been there for as long as we have. Apparently spring wildfires are very hard to stop as the sap isn't running in the trees and they are very dry. Who knew? And they predicate more wildfires because of the hot weather in Alberta. Also, as westerners, they are angry and disappointed with the government response. That will always be a Canadian issue. Little thought is given to the wild west. Just keep the grain coming!
All plans are on hold until Baby Girl is safely in the world. We pray for a little more time for her and Rilee. We'll keep you posted.

STILL RAINING
April 26, 2016
And it's still raining. Good thing I love rain. It seems like I get rained on every day. Tomorrow it might not rain, then I will pull weeds and make sense of the gardens.
We had a great time in New York. It was fun to see Alex and Rachel. New York State is a beautiful, friendly place. I really enjoyed it. We were very comfortable there in Alex's apartment. We toured Ithaca, Cornell campus, his office and department, and some villages and towns around the lake. We saw Niagara Falls, a world class art museum in Buffalo, had delicious fish and chips, Austrian food, beet burgers, and yummy brunch. I realized how competitive and pressured Alex's degree path is. But he seems to enjoy it and does well.
Travis ran a trail race in Poland in the mountains to the south. I saw some film of it. Seems like they ran in rain and fog most of the time. Travis said they slipped and slid a lot. He thinks he ruined his shoes. Not the most satisfying event. We are going to Poland in September and also to Northern Italy. That should be fun.
Our pregnant moms are doing well. Neither of them suffer from nausea. I am glad for that. The babies are healthy and growing. It will be fun to see them this summer. Dad and I are flying to LAX next week to see Ty and Dawn and the girls for a long weekend.
Danny and Jenni are starting to see the finish line on their two bedroom basement project. I realized that they would have to rebuild a lot of their house when they bought it. And I think they have the chops! (my friend in theater says that all the time). They have passed every inspection so far. Needless to say they have saved themselves a lot of money and helped demonstrate do-it-yourself skills to the next generation.
Rilee had to work last week putting on three events, then Tommy had to work Sunday. Rilee will start working from home soon until the baby is born.
We will be in Port Hueneme for Mother's Day. I didn't even realize that when we booked the trip. I hope that doesn't mean Dawn has to work harder. We feel like we haven't seen them for a long time. The girls are doing well in school.. Mother's Day is kind of a screwy holiday, but I always enjoy just talking to you. We are travelling a lot this year. We are also looking for a newer car. Maybe a new one. It's funny, but I have a lot of aquaintances who never go anywhere and always drive new cars and we go everywhere and I think it's a ridiculous expense.
We went to a funeral this last week for a good friend of ours. (She's in our downtown ward). She was buried in an obscure Magna cemetery called Pleasant Green. It was up in the western hills. I was surprised by the seclusion and the view. and the gophers and sage brush and lack of landscaping and grass. I thought it was lovely. They had real upright old headstones. I think landscaped cemeteries in the city are ridiculous. ( I guess I formed this opinion when I saw the ivy covered Jewish Cemetery in Lodz.) Don't you think a cemetery should be sort of a wild, haunted place not a golf course? People had even built fences around graves and benches and left lawn chairs. You could have a bbq there and no one would care. Nice.
And the elections. I'm sorry. I apologize. America should be doing a lot better than this. Hang on to decency, kindness and civility. We need to practice those things. The world doesn't need any more uncouth, rude, vulgar people. Since when do potential presidential candidates model the worst behaviors?
So this month Ollie has a birthday on the 27th I think. He will be nine years old. Rilee and Tommy have their fifth anniversary. If I'm wrong, you need to post a correction. Next month many birthdays and a new baby. Oh! Dawn and Tyler and Danny and Jenni also have an anniversary on the same day. Here I go guessing: seven for Dawn and Tyler and thirteen for Danny and Jenni?
We're going out to dinner tonight with the other senior missionaries. That should be fun.

I was surprised by the seclusion and the view. and the gophers and sage brush and lack of landscaping and grass. I thought it was lovely. They had real upright old headstones. I think landscaped cemeteries in the city are ridiculous. ( I guess I formed this opinion when I saw the ivy covered Jewish Cemetery in Lodz.) Don't you think a cemetery should be sort of a wild, haunted place not a golf course? People had even built fences around graves and benches and left lawn chairs. You could have a bbq there and no one would care. Nice.
And the elections. I'm sorry. I apologize. America should be doing a lot better than this. Hang on to decency, kindness and civility. We need to practice those things. The world doesn't need any more uncouth, rude, vulgar people. Since when do potential presidential candidates model the worst behaviors?
So this month Ollie has a birthday on the 27th I think. He will be nine years old. Rilee and Tommy have their fifth anniversary. If I'm wrong, you need to post a correction. Next month many birthdays and a new baby. Oh! Dawn and Tyler and Danny and Jenni also have an anniversary on the same day. Here I go guessing: seven for Dawn and Tyler and thirteen for Danny and Jenni?
We're going out to dinner tonight with the other senior missionaries. That should be fun.
